Something a little different
A Sight to Be Sold - A Dystopian novel I helped outline, but was written by someone much more capable
As-Salaam ‘alaykum,
If anyone has ever looked at my “recommended publications” list, you may have seen one that isn’t like the others. That would be
, a Muslim story writer who writes fiction, but keeps all his stories clean, and sometimes weaves in Islamic ethics for his majority non-Muslim audience.1In related news, he recently completed a book2 and is running a Kickstarter campaign to help launch it.
I’m sharing it here because it’s a story I’ve workshopped and outlined with him over the course of 3 years now.3 To be clear, he wrote it all, but I was involved enough with it that I want to see it succeed.
Here is the synopsis, but I encourage you to check out the Kickstarter for all details.
Is it seeing if you only see what you're allowed to see?
Richard Wright hates the world he’s forced to live in, as he’s constantly battered by a slew of advertisements no matter where he looks. This is by design, as Richard is beholden to the same implant that the rest of the world is required to have installed in their eyes at birth: a Visual Rights Management implant. Nobody can see a thing without paying “sight-rights” to access it. While most of the world has become complacent to the system that was established decades ago, Richard is bitter with the hand he’s been dealt—he would do anything to get out of the system, even at the cost of his fellow man.
Do you want to experience the ideas of a world similar to 1984, Fahrenheit 451, or The Running Man?
Do you want to see someone embittered toward the shackles of the world, with the dreams of escaping it?
Then you're looking for:
A Sight To Be Sold.4
The dystopian story takes place in a future where censorship is the default, and you have to pay your way to regular visual sight. It's a tale of an embittered man whose one goal is to escape the limits of his vision, and the heart changing journey he has on the way.

Creeping Sharia, am I right?
Well, another book. He has successfully launched many books through Kickstarter.
One might say, I helped him structure his story to make sure it was a coherent narrative. Eh? Ehhhhh?
WaAlaikum Asalaam,
Much appreciated. I'm very grateful to have the book at a state ready to be read by others. You get extra points for reading if you can find the Ayah of Surah Hajj in the novel
